Industrial Maintenance Mechanic
Maintenance Mechanics follow the Engineering Team Leader’s direction and fully embrace Capistrano’s Bakery Prime Directives and the Statement of Values; coupled with the adherence to company policies, procedures, and guidelines. They are expected to perform duties as listed below and may include additional responsibilities as assigned.
Key Responsibilities And Tasks
- Provide emergency/unscheduled repairs of production equipment as needed and perform scheduled maintenance repairs
- Perform mechanical, electrical, pneumatic and hydraulic troubleshooting and repairs of packaging and production equipment
- Maintain a safe, clean shop and working environment by complying with Food Safety, Work and Personal Safety, OSHA, FSMA and all related internal and external policies, procedures, and guidelines
- Read and interpret equipment manuals, work orders and MSDS sheets to perform required maintenance and service
- Repair or replace defective equipment parts, using manual and power tools
- Must be able to disassemble and reassemble equipment maintaining an organized and clean working area
- Fabricate repair parts by using machine shop instrumentation and equipment
- Conserve maintenance resources by using equipment and supplies as needed to accomplish desired job results
- Record type and cost of maintenance or repair work
- Respect fellow co-workers and their work areas by verifying that all debris and tools have been properly cleared upon completion of a job
- Contribute to team efforts by accomplishing related results as needed
- Detail oriented and meticulous work ethics
Physical Requirements & Exposures
- Must be able to lift a maximum of 100 lbs and have prior proper lifting techniques training
- Ability to operate cutting, grinding and welding tools, and utilize corresponding approved safety devices while in operation
- Trained in safe operation of common maintenance equipment in a maintenance shop
- Exposure to oil, dust and ingredients that are known allergens
- Exposure to extreme weather temperatures and smoke
- Will be exposed to sharp objects, altitudes and electrical hazards
Qualifications & Skills
- Three to five years prior mechanical maintenance experience in production and packaging machinery; preferably in a food service environment
- Possess equipment maintenance knowledge and technical understanding
- Must be able to read blue prints
- Good decision making skills
- Work in a fast pace environment
- Well organized and self-directed
- Team player and contributor
- High School Diploma or equivalent, plus technical/vocational training
- Must have own tools
- Must be willing to work nights, weekends and holidays
- Must speak English; bilingual a plus
